Joyce Newcomb RN, Ph. D.
Neuro-Psychologist

Joyce E. Newcomb RN, Ph.D. received a Nursing degree from SUNY at Auburn; Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology from Nova University; a Doctorate in the Philosophy of Psychology from Saybrook Institute, and a Two-Year Post-Doctorate in Neuropsychology from The Fielding Institute.  She is licensed as a Registered Nurse in both Florida and New York, Nationally Board Certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Clinician; Nationally Board Certified as a Fellow Diplomate in Medical Psychotherapy; and is licensed as both a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Mental Health Counselor in Florida.  She is a published author who has spoken before national and international audiences about the near-death experience and on memory related problems.  She has lectured on cruise ships including Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Norwegian Caribbean Cruise Lines.

Dr. Newcomb is listed in the inaugural (1984) and subsequent editions of “Who’s Who In American Nursing.”  She is also listed in “Who’s Who In the South and Southwest” (1986-1996); “Who’s Who Among American Women” (1989-1996); “Who’s Who Among Human Service Professionals” (1986-1995); and “2000 Notable American Women” (1995).  In 1986, the Florida Nurses’ Association acknowledged her as an “Outstanding Nurse Clinician.

In 1981 she was a Writer’s Digest winner in the Articles and Features category.  New Horizon Press published her first book, “Medical Treason: Nurses on Drugs,” in 1989 and it was published in paperback by Berkley Press in 1990.  Dr. Newcomb has had numerous articles published in both mainstream and nursing journals.  She currently writes continuing education programs for The Prescribing Psychologists’ Register, Inc. located in North Miami Beach, Florida.
